Flyers Race Night Delivers Fun, Fast Times and Team Spirit @ PARC - May 22nd
The Flyers Swim Team community came together for an exciting and memorable Race Night, organised by the club’s dedicated coaches and volunteers. Designed to simulate a real racing environment, the evening provided swimmers of all levels with a chance to test their skills, build confidence and enjoy the thrill of competition in a supportive and inclusive setting.
From the first whistle to the final finish, the atmosphere was full of energy, laughter and encouragement. Spectators lined the pool deck, supporting the swimmers as they competed with determination and enthusiasm that truly reflected the Flyers spirit.
Strong Performances in the Pool
The night showcased some outstanding swims from Flyers athletes, with many swimmers achieving personal bests and demonstrating clear progress in their technique and race execution. Coaches noted improvements in starts, and stroke length, highlighting the hard work athletes have been putting into their training.
It was particularly exciting to see swimmers step outside their comfort zones and take on new (or less favoured…) events. We remain confident this experience will contribute to further improvement and development of our swimmers as the season progresses.
We look forward to seeing how the Flyers swimmers continue to develop over the coming months.
A Rocky Start, But a Strong Finish
The evening began with a slight delay as several pieces of technology briefly decided not to cooperate. Despite the unexpected hiccup, the team worked quickly to resolve the issues and get events underway.
We appreciate the patience and understanding shown by families and swimmers. Once everything was up and running, the event proceeded smoothly and successfully.
A Big Thank You to Volunteers
Events like Race Night would not be possible without the support of volunteers. A sincere thank you goes out to everyone who assisted with timekeeping and marshalling throughout the evening.
Your contribution plays a vital role in creating opportunities for swimmers to participate and improve.
More Than Just Racing
Beyond the racing, the evening provided a great opportunity for the community to connect. It was great to see the swimmers from both the PARC & YAWA programs engaging in marshalling & behind the blocks, establishing connections. Thank you to the Flyers Swim Team Committee for organising a pizza dinner, operating the uniform shop and hosting a farewell for Julie in recognition of her contributions to the club.
These moments help build a strong and supportive club culture for everyone involved.
Looking Ahead
We look forward to seeing you all at upcoming meets on the Flyers Meet Schedule and continuing to support our swimmers as they progress throughout the season.
