Youth Fitness Squad

The Youth Fitness Squad offers a flexible, non-competitive pathway for older swimmers who want to maintain their fitness, enjoy swimming, and stay connected with the Flyers Swim Team community—without the pressure of competition. This squad is perfect for those who love swimming for health, wellbeing, and fun.

What to Expect

Youth Fitness Squad swimmers focus on improving overall fitness, refining technique, and enjoying the benefits of regular exercise in a supportive, social environment. Training is relaxed and adaptable, allowing athletes to set personal goals and swim at their own pace, with guidance from experienced coaches.

Who is it for?

  • Age: Typically for secondary school-aged swimmers and older

  • Entry: For swimmers who have completed earlier squad levels or are looking for a non-competitive, fitness-focused swimming option

Training Commitments

  • Choose 1–3 sessions per week at Peninsula Aquatic Recreation Centre (PARC) in Frankson

  • Focus on fitness, technique, and personal wellbeing

  • No competition requirements—just swim for enjoyment and health

  • Flexible attendance to suit busy schedules and individual goals

Training Timetable

Training breaks are communicated in advance. Sessions run during school holidays, but not on public holidays.

Competitions

  • No competition requirements. Youth Fitness Squad members can choose to participate in club social events or fun swims if they wish, but racing is not expected.

Equipment Needed

  • Drink bottle

  • Kickboard, fins, and other required squad equipment

Progression Pathway

The Youth Fitness Squad is designed as a flexible, ongoing option for swimmers who want to maintain their swimming skills and fitness. Swimmers who decide to return to a competitive pathway can discuss options with their coach.
